WD is a reliable brand for compact hard drive I used for decades.
The actual capacity is around 4.5 TB, it takes somewhere 30 seconds for the computer to recognize the drive when connected. Overall, it worked properly, so far so good.

Ive had at least 5 drives and NEVER and I mean NEVER had an issue with anything from WD! Love WD. This is small. portable and perfect for traveling all your files with it!

Be weary of the 5TB drive both my drives crashed on the same timeframe.
Love WD but both my 5TB drives crashed. One my main and the other the backup. Lost the data on the main and went to the back up and it crashed and have lost all data. Was not cool. WD’s only solution was to return but I couldn’t because the HD had confidential info on it. So lost $ for the cost of 2 drives and all my data. My WD 4TB drives are great. The 5TB has issues.

I got the 5TB drive, red and black colour. Looks very good. Its simply the best, for backups and all. I’m happy.I’m getting around 50-60MB write speed on USB 3 on old laptop. Good for me.Before this, I also had a 2TB from WD, that’s also doing well till now.Seagate has improved on reliability from older days, and now are also offering free recovery services, but I have a firm belief on WD.Still, you can do your research to see what does best for you, both companies make 5 star rated, reliable products.
