Perfect surveillance camera solution with no power available
Tapo surveillance camera solved our dilemma. We finally found a way to get the protection needed without power.This camera actually lasts 4 – 6 months on a charge depending on the activity. Thankfully activity can be controlled by the cameras built in detection software. Additionally limited use of the built in flood lights extends battery life.You’re also able to differentiate between animals, people, cars and general movement. Additionally you can choose detection zones for each of these object types separately. These options allow for minimizing, “hits” which greatly improves time between charges. The app also notifies you if there are on abnormally high number of hits allowing to make the necessary adjustments to extend battery life.I should also note that a compatable solar panel is an available option when the camera must be located in a hard to get to location thus eliminating the need for charging.The camera base mounted easily to the stucco exterior of our garage. The camera attaches to the base with a very strong magnet. Adjustment is very simple. (See the picture)The Tapo application (for Android and IPhone) makes managing all of the features a breeze. In addition once installed the camera will automatically appear in your Amazon Alexa app so that you are able to view any of the captured video right from Alexa without touching Tapo.The need to remove the camera from the magnetic mount for periodic charging is the only negative so far. It is not easy to get it back into the exact position it was in so that all of the detection zones are not changed.Overall I would highly recommend this camera especially in circumstances where there is no power available.

Excellent wireless camera with 150 degree “fisheye” field of view, 2K resolution and long battery life. Installed this outdoor camera for monitoring my back yard. Works in conjunction with TP-link Kasa wired indoor cams, TP-link Doorbell/Chime… all cams can be viewed on Tapo app. Installation and firmware update is quick and easy with Tapo app. It only took an hour to fully charge from 50% out of the package with USB cable. Magnets on camera and base mount are strong. It should hold up to the high winds we get here in four seasons country. Easy to adjust angle of camera. Takes a few days to get sensitivity settings, motion detection, etc… tweaked and setup through trial and error. SD card can be installed or cloud service with subscription for recording. Night vision works great with good black/white picture. Overall, great camera for the cost. Recommended for those who want to use TP-link indoor and outdoor cameras. I have 4 cameras running and this TP-link/Taop setup is just as good as professional-grade, high cost DVRs/camera, static IP-based setup that cost 10-15 times more than what I paid overall. My only gripe is…. I wish Tapo would create an app for Windows 11/Linux Mint OS on laptops and desktops. Tapo works great on Android and iOS smart phones and tablets. Highly recommended for those who want pro quality video surveillance at consumer level cost.

Aunque inicialmente parecía prometedora, descubrí que presenta un problema fundamental que la hace casi inutilizable: más del 95% del tiempo, la cámara está fuera de línea, incluso cuando la batería está al 100%.Este inconveniente hace que la cámara pierda toda su funcionalidad básica de vigilancia. A pesar de que el indicador de batería muestra que está completamente cargada, la cámara no se conecta, lo que significa que no graba ni transmite imágenes cuando más la necesito. Este fallo la convierte en un dispositivo totalmente inútil para cumplir con el propósito de mantener la seguridad.En resumen, esta cámara no cumple su función principal de vigilar. No puedo confiar en ella para proteger mi hogar, ya que constantemente está desconectada, lo que va en contra del propósito para el cual fue diseñada. Considero que no es una inversión recomendable hasta que se resuelvan estos problemas técnicos.
