The perfect TV for our custom built RV!
This 24″ Silvox Smart 12 volt RV TV was just what we were looking for for our custom overland camper. The size fits the scale of our small environment and the frameless design looks clean. The 1080 HD provides clear and sharp images. The built-in DVD feature is not something we use a lot but adds piece of mind that it’s available while we travel without carrying an additional hardware component. We use the Smart TV feature the most as we watch streaming services like YouTube. With the external ports I am able to connect HDMI devices as well as USB drives. The built-in audio is quite sufficient for everyday use, but I was also able to connect the auxiliary audio output to our head unit for a better sound environment. Overall I’m very pleased with this product.

    First Impressions and Sound Adjustment
I needed a TV right away. Must haves: Pedestal, 22″, HD, 2+ HDMI Okay 24″, but I didn’t need the Android features, etc., or the integrated disc player. I paid for those to get the pedestal and the HDMIs. I’m ready for glamping now, but needed this to replace a previous at home which had all these features, but lived past its average expected life by 2-3 times.First reactions. Super light without the base. The base is heavy, flat and very stable. The short rise helps with stability. I can see that it would be very good going down the road. You need a small gauge phillips head screwdriver to assemble–luckily I have one that I mostly use as an ice pick and it worked very well. The little screws for the base were tucked into the cleaning cloth (in a little bag), but found before panic set in. Smart that the larger screws were started and standing in their spots on the back of the unit. The design for the screw holes is excellent. No orientation questions, the screws were easy to line up and start. They worked best being put all the way through the accessory holes first, then lined up with the TV and screwed in. Also, easy to tighten with not much strength. Pairing with the cable remote was easy. Some of the buttons on the TV remote had unexpected results, but of the need to learn way, not an annoying one. I have to play with it more, but the colorful dots button at the top brings up a Google search line, which could be very useful. It’s nice to have a paper manual, and the assembly directions are very clear. The rest not so much. On the company website it says it has Bluetooth with the same display picture on the unit as shown here on Amazon. It’s not in the manual. I tried to connect a speaker, but it gives the nothing to pair with noise and shuts off, poking the TV buttons doesn’t turn up anything about bluetooth, and it doesn’t say here or on the company site.ETA—I think I found the bluetooth Mar 6. From the Google Home screen, choose Settings / Remotes & Accessories. Under Accessories it looks like it’s looking for bluetooth to pair with. It didn’t “see” my iPad, though, so I don’t know if that’s because it’s not Android or some other issue. What I did learn poking buttons is that there are lots of SOUND ADJUSTMENTS. As other reviewers warned, the out of the box sound is ghastly, like a tin can, or a first generation palm of hand sized transistor radio–weird that it would sound like antique tech. Worse even than the reviews said, though it seemed to improve some over time. I finally figured out that the problem–remembering that the sound is listed as “hi fi”, which should be better than your average built-in to the TV sound, though the designation “hi fi” comes from the era of transistor radios (though never applied to them)–is that perhaps the sound is **too** good? And the worst was with speech, not incidental music, which is unusual. After more listening, it seemed that the problem was with people who were individually mic’d. On a regular TV with decent sound, you can hear a resonance that comes from the expanse of the location the sound of such voices is recorded in. I think on this TV, that resonance is much louder and in the forefront. What I learned, pressing buttons is that there are SOUND SETTINGS like “News” and “Music”. They work, though the “News” setting doesn’t work well enough to take the resonance completely out of the news. So after pressing more buttons, and still thinking about the unpaired bluetooth speaker, I pushed the Surround Sound button, with just the TV’s speakers. There’s a SS setting called Pure Sound. It makes the sound much louder (still enough space on the volume scale to turn it down), which improves things a lot. So far, the best I’ve found is Sound: Standard + Surround Sound: Pure Sound. It’s not perfect, and there’s still some intrusion on speech, but I really don’t want accessory speakers, and was only trying my bluetooth speaker out of desperation. The current setting is tolerable., and none of them really distort music, the distortion of which hurts my ears. What I haven’t had a chance to play with yet is Sound: Personal. That is an equalizer with five ranges. Woohoo! I don’t know if that’ll fix the echoes, but it might. I just need a quiet time to play with it. I had a car with sports tuning (i.e., loud) and a little goose from the equalizer was all it took to be able to drive on the freeway and listen to music.I didn’t need the smart system, and I’m not sure I want to log my TV into Google, but I poked around a bit and found that some features, like YouTube, work without signing in. There are also some free TV options, including news in a number of big cities around the country. There are dozens of “channels” which seem to be episodes of singular particular shows (I don’t know if these change over time), and a few that seem like regular cable channels. Certainly something to stream if you’re going down the road and just want a little TV. I think these are provided by Google. There are the usual apps, too, so you can log on to your streaming services with ease.ETA—I’ve tried to use the search function, and it doesn’t return results, even after I signed in a Google account. … After trying several times, the TV started talking and asked for permission to look in its apps. Then it returned an IMDB blub and some apps. NOT A GOOGLE SEARCH! The search is a TV search. Not so useful.I dinged the picture quality one star because it’s not as good and sharp as my old TV’s ,but it’s not bad.The unit is indeed what is called “rimless”, but there’s a thin black margin, not edge to edge. It’s fine. Just don’t think you’re getting edge to edge (which, for the price, I wouldn’t expect).

    Returned immediately (Updated)
Before we purchased we read the reviews and knew that some people had problems with the sound. WOW, that was an understatement for us. The sound was absolutely horrible. We tried every possible setting in the audio menu and nothing helped. It sounded like the speaker was from an old time radio and was loose inside the case. We were so disappointed. Lasted out of the box for less than 30 minutes. Packed it back up and got it ready to ship back to Amazon.Edit: 1/21/25 – After posting this review I was contacted by a very nice Customer Service Representative named Maggie. She asked if I’d be willing to give them another try and I agreed. After my return was accepted, I ordered another TV of the same make and model. When this one arrived I was pleased to see (or hear) that the sound quality was just fine. No issues with the audio at all. My excitement was short lived though. When I tried to play a DVD, I kept getting a disc read error. Tried several discs and got the same result. After several attempts to resolve the issue with Maggie it was determined that this unit too had to be sent back. Seeing that others were having no issues with the TV I decided to give them another try. I really wanted it to work as it had all the features I was looking for in an RV TV. I’m happy to report that the third unit works just fine. Audio is good and DVD’s play properly. I will continue to test it for a while and will update my review if I run into any issues.I can’t say enough about the attentiveness of Maggie. She truly went above and beyond to ensure I was fully satisfied and responded to emails at almost any time of day.

Not Shock Resistant, did not pass Seismic Design Test
Purchase in November 2024. Used it in my RV for the first time in January. Went to use it a second time and the screen was cracked.Literature states “Seismic Design: Passed the 4G vibration test, 12V TV will not be damaged by bumps and vibrations.”Mine didn’t pass that test. Customer service responded quickly and sent the following “After confirming your questions and information, the Sylvox team will definitely provide you with satisfactory solution.”Their “satisfactory solution” was……………. I need to purchase a new TV. No help at all.

    Update: Great Customer Service
TV not only came later than it was supposed to but also came scratched and with scruff marks. Will not update review until I receive a better unit.—[Update] Received a new unit and it arrived quickly from Amazon. The Sylvox customer service representatives have been helpful, communicative and responsive along the way, checking in to ensure needs were met.The TV itself has been perfect in my bedroom, has a great selection of smart apps and the DVD feature is a welcomed bonus, especially at this price point for a smaller sized TV. My only complaints are the sound (not expansive and it’s hard to get the TV to the “low” volume) and Google Assistant is available but the remote doesn’t have a speaker so you can’t utilize it (unless I’m missing something). Otherwise, great TV and solid picture quality.

Purchased this TV after originally buying a lower grade (non smart tv) version of a same brand TV and couldn’t be happier! Plays DVDs, USB video, and able to watch Prime Video and Netflix through wifi with the pre installed apps. Great video quality along with surround sound. Would definitely recommend this tv for anyone looking to upgrade their RV TV! Great buy!

I was pleased with the exceptional service I received from Sylvox, due to several issues I had with the built in DVD player. The representative with the service department really went out of her way to settle several issues with my purchase. Now everything works as advertised!
