My favorite flash drive ever
This is truly my favorite flash drive I own, and I’m sorry I bought any other. I regularly take 20 GB videos on my iPhone and need to upload to YouTube in a 3 hour turnaround time. they are a pain to upload to the cloud and download to the computer. This is LIGHTNING fast, takes only a few seconds to transfer the video from my phone to the drive, and from the drive to the computer. I can ever record video directly to the drive if I want. Other flash drives take 5-15 minutes for the same transfer. Only thing to not is that this thing can get very warm when working hard, but as far as performance goes, I rely on this thing and love it. Also, the form and feel is great – nice heavy solid metal and easy to hold in the hand.

Fast drive. Using it for an Ubuntu development environment.
I sometimes need an Ubuntu development environment, but not often enough to warrant having a dedicated machine or allocating internal disk space for dual-booting. Installing Ubuntu on this makes it a breeze to switch to Ubuntu whenever I need to.The drive is blazing fast. I don’t see any performance difference compared to running Ubuntu on an internal SSD.

I’ve been using flash drives for a very long time. However, with the ever-increasing size of files that I need to carry around, an upgrade in speed was needed. You can easily find 512 GB flash drives around, but when you have to transfer large files, flash drives just don’t quite cut it for speed. Enter the USB SSD. SSD drives can push the limits of your USB bus. My previous 512 GB USB flash drive didn’t come close to the transfer speed of this SSD, especially during write operations. This drive has a sturdy metal case with a USB type A connector, with removable cap, on one side and a USB type C connector, with flip-down protector on the other. This drive was much more expensive than my last flash drive, but I am satisfied enough with the performance that it’s not an issue.Now for my complaints. 1) I expect ALL external storage devices to have integrated activity LEDs which this does not. Unfortunately, not all manufacturers mention whether they have or do not have an activity LED, in their documentation. 2) It’s a bit longer than my flash drive by an inch or so. Still fits easily in my pocket, though. 3) This may not be a complaint for everyone, but I prefer a removable cap for protection instead of a flip-down cover. Yeah, you CAN lose the caps, but you can also purchase replacement caps online from almost anybody.

Straightforward and easy to use
I was able to transfer my favorite photos from my iPhone15 Pro to the SSK drive easily and quickly. It was pretty straightforward…It worked straight out of the package. I didn’t have to install anything. It heated up a little during the transfer but nothing alarming since it was just like how my iPhone heats up when in heavy use.

DO NOT PURCHASE!
Do Not Purchase! SSK refuses to help with the purchase, the item does not meet the requirements posted, and SSK claimed not to worry, and now says to return to Amazon, despite sending me a defective product.On top of that, BEWARE TCL DRIVES! SSK advertises it as if it’s a positive, but it is actually significantly worse, slower, and much cheaper grade than before. Essentially the drive will be slower in transfer speeds, and after a certain number of read/write cycles the drive stops storing anything And all the data on it becomes corrupt without any way to recover it. When will that be? Could be after 20 uses, or 200 uses. But it WILL happen, and it will NEVER last 2,000 read/write cycles.Now I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t want to take a gamble with my precious data when backing it up on this portable USB SSD product which is made with the cheapest, most inferior and slowest type of NAND flash memory such as TCL. Like I said, RUN! DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DATA!!!! AVOID SSK AT ALL COSTS, OTHERWISE IT WILL COST YOU MUCH MORE THAN THE PRICE OF THIS DRIVE.I have worked at many prestigious tech companies such as Google, so trust me when I tell you these things. I wish I cared to read the details earlier. If you think this company will help you in any way in case the drive becomes corrupt or your files are deleted and un-retrievable, think again. They couldn’t care less! Seriously, I wish I knew this, I’d have never purchased any SSK products.Unfortunately, I have purchased 8+ drives by SSK, spending hundreds of dollars, and when I ask for help for the first time they don’t care at all. They don’t offer a refund, won’t send me a replacement, and even expect me to pay to ship it to them without any type of agreement or assistance in getting my information, money, or time back. When you need a company to be there for you, their customer service is not helpful at all. If you want a drive that performs up to spec, do not buy this one. It will NOT work at the speed advertised and SSK will NOT help you at all with the process!Worst company I have ever come across on Amazon, I can’t believe they are acting so rudely and don’t realize that people depend on these drives for a living. Their recourse is to send it back to their offices, so they can “investigate,” whatever that means.Stay away. Consider yourself earned from a professional. Do not deal with this nightmare of a company with the worst customer service I have ever encountered on Amazon!

I use this for a MX Linux. Persistent install runs perfectly fine as though it were on the motherboard itself. Speedy drive. No complaints, Rock solid metal enclosure.

Only transferred at about 36MB/s. I tried reformatting in different formats (NTFS/exfat) and sector sizes. My other USB transfers at over 100MB/s. I sent this one back for refund. Refund went through quickly.
