Amazing Phone. Truly Flagship Grade. Problem with Packaging.
Received this phone today, so I haven’t had it in my hands all that long. With that being said, from what I’ve experienced so far, this phone is truly competing with the best of the best.Pros:1. The screen is gorgeous and pops with inky vibrant colors and deep blacks. It’s also capable of up to 165 hz refresh which is top notch. Everything is fluid and I really couldn’t ask for more. The display also goes up to 1,300 nits, so it should be visible in direct sunlight.2. The camera takes very nice photos that are compete with other flagships. The camera setup is versatile with a 50 MP OIS main camera, 50 MP ultra wide and a 12 megapixel 2X telephoto lens. Very happy with these cameras. I have not had a chance to test them in low light or take much video though.3. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and 8GB ram make performance as quick as it gets. There is no perceivable lag when moving around the phone or doing tasks in apps.4. The build quality feels amazing in hand. It definitely feels solidly put together. The back of the phone is gorilla glass, but the sandblasted texture feels great in hand and prevents smudges.5. Charging speed is one of the things that blew me away the most about this phone! It’s amazing. It charges seriously fast at up to 68 watts when using the included adapter, and doesn’t get too hot while doing so either. I charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in 21.5 minutes. From 20 percent to 50 percent it only took 9 minutes. Not sure how this will impact battery longevity in several years, but Motorola does give you the option to turn it off. The Phone is capable of 15 watt wireless charging too, which is a nice touch. Be aware that this phone does not contain MagSafe magnets like iPhone. You’ll have to buy a case for that feature.Cons:1. The update support is not as long as other competitors. Motorola promised 3 years of OS updates and a total of 4 years of security patches. So in total that’s 4 years of keeping the phone secured. Samsung and Google have longer update policies that beat this number. As this phone was officially released in May of 2023, it’s already been out for over 1.5 years as of this review. It should still receive updates at least until Mid-2027. That was long enough to make me feel ok buying it. But I’d consider your needs before purchasing.2. There are some preloaded apps. But every phone except iPhone or Pixel does this. Luckily they can be uninstalled or disabled.3. When I took the phone out of the box, I had to spend 1-2 hours applying all of the updates. The phone was nowhere near updated to the latest OS or security patches. That was a pain. But some other phones have this issue too.4. Probably the biggest con (and maybe specific to Amazon). The security seal sticker on the retail box was already broken when I received the phone. I ordered item shipped and sold by Amazon and double checked to make sure. I was very irritated when I first realized this. However, it seems I’m not the only one who’s had this issue. Upon inspecting the device and the rest of the box, it seems like it was never used or altered. But it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth for someone buying a phone listed as being Brand new. I think what might have happened is the sticker ripped apart during shipping and handling. It’s a very thin security sticker that feels more like tissue paper where the seal was broken. Still, I’m very disappointed Amazon would be selling new units with a defective seal. I’m considering returning and buying this phone at another retailer due to the issue.Overall, I think this is a wonderful flagship level device from Motorola. There is really nothing I’ve discovered that I don’t like (aside from the issue with the packaging). For the sale price I paid of $400 unlocked, I think it’s truly an amazing value. I highly recommend this device. My advice would perhaps be to buy the phone at a physical retail store and inspect the packaging before purchasing. Amazon should be made aware that these phone boxes were either previously opened or manufactured with defective seals.

Less is more
I haven’t owned a Motorola device since the 2nd generation Moto X back in 2014. The Galaxy S22, while a nice phone, was too small and I found that I missed the stock android experience, so when I found the Edge+ on sale for way less than most flagships go for these days, I went for it.The basics: setup is easy, especially if you’re upgrading from another android phone. You could do things wirelessly, or you could get a fast USB 3.0 cable and immediately copy all of your photos, call history, texts, apps, and everything else over in minutes. You don’t need to power this phone off to install your sim card either. Just pop it in, and your carrier will be recognized in moments. The fingerprint reader can be a bit finicky if you’re using a screen protector, so keep this in mind: if you set your prints before you installed it, delete them, and re-apply them. You shouldn’t have much issues after this.Performance: The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a incredibly processor. It’s more than capable of handling whatever you throw at it. Even after installing several system updates it’s speed remains top notch.Features: You’ll have access to all kinds to personalization and gesture features that you can tune to your liking. Chop to turn on your flashlight and twisting the phone to enable the camera are both great features that were on the OG Moto X, so it’s cool to know that they were kept on newer devices.Condition: Always check your sellers on this platform. The model I bought was shipped and sold from Amazon.com, which made the purchase a no brainer as returns/refunds/shipping would be a simple process. Still, when I received the Edge+, I noticed that the seal on the actual manufacturer’s box was already cut. While nothing was missing from the box and the phone was clearly in new condition and hadn’t been touched, it was still a bit odd.Either way, less is more. $399 for a phone with these specs is a bargain in a time where the current culture is pushing you to spend $1K on a phone. Are the cameras the best? No, but it takes solid photos and videos. And while Motorola only provides 3 years of software upgrades and four years of security updates, you honestly don’t need to have the newest version of android as soon as they release. Trust me. These devices are already feature rich, and as far as security is concerned, use common sense: don’t download sketchy apps or suspicious files onto your phone, or give your phone number to any sketchy characters. That said, this is a solid device.

Best Value Flagship
I got this for for $355 with Amazon’s resale “like new” condition. It’s brand new, just a simple return I think. Battery health is 100% and no damage at all. So far I really like it and the price is mind blowing considering most flagships (this is like 95% of what a Samsung Galaxy s23 plus model is) are about $1000 nowadays. Battery life is crazy good and comes with a 68w charger (chargers very fast). Only downside is the software support isn’t that great (use moto secure folder for sensitive data/apps plus a password manager with strong passwords and it’s no problem) but I see myself using this phone for a good 3 years no problem (android 16 will be last os update and 2027 will be last security update). Camera is good but not a Pro Max or Ultra grade system. Side note: audio sounds tinny by default but all you got to do is go to Dolby Atmos and change Smart Audio to Custom and enable bass boost. Also, I find spatial sound to be 50/50. Play around with that setting to your liking. Lastly, enable surround virtualizer and volume leveler. You’re welcome.
