Customers say
Customers find the microwave compact and functional, particularly suitable for small kitchens and apartments, with one noting it accommodates a 10.5-inch dinner plate. They appreciate its appearance, matching well with stainless mini-fridges, and consider it a great little appliance. The build quality receives mixed feedback, with some saying it’s better built while others find it not very durable. The heat level and ease of use also get mixed reviews – while some say it heats food decently and is very easy to use, others report it takes forever to heat everything and find it difficult to figure out. Value for money opinions are divided, with some finding it very good for the price while others say it’s not worth the cost.

Nice Little Oven
This is a basic 700 watt oven, a good choice for a dorm or a small kitchen. It cooks evenly and has clear controls for instant 1-6 minute cook times, add 30 seconds, popcorn, and it’s turntable is big enough for a dinner plate. You can find cheaper ovens but the GE name suggests that you will have a US company backing it if it breaks. My only complaint is its small window.

Small but strong
This is a small but mighty microwave. It cooks food thoroughly according to frozen food package directions. Easy to clean.

Workable alternative for the SpaceMaker II; decent basic microwave
After many years of service, my GE SpaceMaker II microwave needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, the line has been discontinued by GE. They offer one model that’s close to the dimensions, but the size would not work well for the space I have (built-in shelf). While there are lots of compact microwaves, the issue is the depth — most are too deep to fit on a wall shelf. This has the proper depth for sitting on a shelf without issue provided that you use a flat pig-tail adapter so that the plug doesn’t jut out and prevent the microwave from sitting close to the wall. The width is less than the nearly 24 inches of the SpaceMaker, but I filled the empty shelf space with a storage cannister that I found that matches the microwave. The microwave itself is a basic model that has few bells and whistles. I only use the microwave to reheat leftovers, and this does a fine job of that. Heating is even, and the 700W, while low powered compared with larger microwaves, gets the job done just fine. The controls are easy to use and are very similar to the SpaceMaker controls, which was a plus for me. The fit and finish are much better than other compact microwaves I looked at. It will fit a full-size dinner plate without issue. It’s not a perfect replacement for the SpaceMaker, but it’s a workable one. It provides good functionality as a basic compact microwave, looks much nicer than you would expect for the price point, and is easy to use. A very good value for the price, especially if you can catch it on a price dip. Five stars.

Not content with the function, and concerned
Microwave review.I know I am past the return option- I waited to open it and was out of town for a while, so that’s fair. But I believe it is important to put out my experience for anyone else’s information.Early on I wrote that I was concerned the even just heating up my coffee, the far back right corner of the top of the microwave would feel warm- no where else. Be aware, I have allowed much more that the required space all around the appliance. The response was that this was normal. Previous microwave must have been better insulated because that never happened, and it was a much higher power.A few time now I have encountered an issue putting in timed cook- I’ll start hitting numbers and the screen will just light up “food”. The first time this happened, it took a couple of times to get the input to clear. Had to totally back out (hitting pause/clear more than once). Most recently I cooked some ears of corn wrapped loosely in parchment (have done this before), had to break up the batch so didn’t do them all at once. Took out the first ones and put the next in as soon as oven was emptied. They cooked fine, but this time the entire top of the oven was warm. That is concerning- the first time it was three minutes for each of 5, so 15 minutes at full power. The second time it was 10 minutes- certainly nothing excessive.I called about a possible cookbook at one point, and was told you don’t supply one anymore, just the basic user’s manual, and that totally understandable, but there is no real chart for various foods and quantities, just the marked buttons for minimal help. All and all a disappointing result, and not comfortable trying to use the unit for the full range of possibilities it should have.Planning on buying someone else’s soon, but not even comfortable donating this for anything but absolute minimal use.Not a satisfied customer.G.C.Hirsch

Resistente y calienta perfectamente

Small inside dimensions, irritating childlock
I bought this microwave to replace an older one that stopped working. Unfortunately the model I had was no longer available, so I tried the GE. The GE has the same exterior dimensions as my older microwave, but the inside dimensions are quite a bit smaller. Check this on any microwave you order; I was shocked at how small this one was inside. In addition, it has this a very irritating child-lock. You are supposed to be able to disable the lock by pushing a sequence of three keys. I have never been able to get that to work so I have to push an unlock button and then open the door. Generally, everything on this microwave seems to require a sequence of presses; just bad design. It is too much trouble to return, but my advice is to look around a bit more before you buy this microwave.

Approx. 2 months ago (LESS THAN 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASE) the microwave started to develop a gash on the interior back wall. It progressively got worse with more use. It then started to emit a grey smokey substance which smells like the grinding of metal. It has rendered this unit un unusable. I am deeply saddened as GE products which I have bought & used in the past were among the best quality. I have had to purchase a new one. This unit at a cost of $240, did not last 1 year. The supplier refuses to refund my money because the 30 day return policy has expired and the 1 year warranty has also expired. This is unacceptable, as this product is truly dangerous!!!
