BLACK+DECKER Hammer Drill, 6.5-Amp, 1/2-Inch (BEHD201)

Description

When a standard drill just isn’t powerful enough, BLACK+DECKER’s 6.5 Amp, 1/2 in. electric hammer drill is the obvious choice. The corded design ensures you’ll never run out of power, while the 3-position side handle helps provide a comfortable grip from start to finish. The single-sleeve keyless chuck accommodates bits up to 1/2 in. and lets you swap them out quickly and easily.

    works good
works great for drilling some three eighths inch 4 inch deep holes in very old hard cured concrete pad.

Nice tool and the price is right!
This is my first hammer drill. I had a ton of drilling to do to replace a dryer vent and to install some shelving. With new Bosch bits, it probably took me about 15 exhausting minutes to drill into the foundation outside, using a standard cordless drill. With this, I drilled 10 in about 2 minutes. It’s a nice piece of equipment and the price is right.

    Excellent
I bought this to replace a 20 year old B&D hammer drill that the cord was pulling loose on. I like this new drill, it is light and powerful. I do not like the handle because of the way it attaches. You tighten it with (basically) a plastic wing nut. I do like the depth gauge but it’s in centimeters. Urg, it does not come with a case but fits nicely in the case from my old black &Decker 1/2″ drive hammer drill. The chuck is keyless and is plastic or at least coated in plastic which is an improvement over the old metal one which was hard on the hands. Over all, I am happy with the drill. It’s just as powerful if not more then my old one and is smaller and lighter.

    Awesome!
I needed to drill some holes in concrete block, and this thing’s apparently the perfect tool for the job. It put a good masonry bit through the stuff like it was butter, quickly and easily. The “hammer” on/off switch is very convenient, and (with benefit of hindsight) there’s absolutely no need to have a separate non-hammer drill. So save money and just buy one of these.

    Must have
A must have in your tool box. For years I used regular drill wondering why I would never drill concrete or even any masonry walls. This did the trick and us a great value

    Awful
I bought this since I only needed to drill 10 holes in concrete. Unfortunately this crap didn’t make it past three holes before it overheated and lost all torque. I let it cool down for 15 minutes thinking it was just a temperature issue. But the drill only started to produce smoke and no power. If you’re just needing a hammer drill for a quick, one-time use, I recommend you spend the extra $5 and get the Harbor Freight Hammer Drill. Its not great, but unlike the Black and Decker, it got the job done without overheating quickly.

    Fair drill for the money
This is a good drill, but the chuck does not hold when using it in the hammer drill mode. The chuck opens and lets the drill slip.

  9. Amazon Customer

I only used this tool for a couple small projects. It does the job.

Muy buena herramienta. Ofrece un buen desempeño.

  11. Kevin Truong

It’s so cheap that I thought it would be bad. Nope, so powerful and useful for drilling holes.

Hammerdrills fine into concrete with the smaller bits I used so far. The handle collar is difficult to correctly position and tighten. It slipped forward unnoticed and got chewed up badly. A far better tightening system would be a twist handle which is common to similar drills I’ve used in the past.

    Powerful enough
