This is a great deal. Huge capacity, totally quiet, and with an on/off switch, attractive case, small desktop footprint. Everything going for it.I look at this and the price on these has dropped about $10 in the last 8 months since I bought my first one, while other drives are still high, in fact for equivalent drive about double the price of the Avolusion.I think disk drive technology is solid enough to say this company is going to be a rising star. At least for me. I have had no problems with my 2 drives.To be on the safe side when I upgraded to 14TB I bought two drives to be able to backup/clone all my data in case of disaster. Both drives have been perfect. If I get another one I might upgrade again to 16TB.> The big question is its reliability and performance over the> long term. I recently purchased the Avolusion PRO external hard drive, and I must say, I’m impressed! This drive is not only twice as fast as any other external drive I’ve used, (none ssd) but it has also been incredibly reliable for backing up large amounts of data generated from my YouTube content creation.In the past two weeks alone, the Avolusion PRO has proven to be a workhorse, handling all my data storage needs seamlessly. However, I must mention that this drive is notably twice as noisy compared to my other drives. While this can be a drawback for some, the performance outweighs this minor inconvenience for me.Initially, I was hesitant to buy this drive due to its unfamiliar brand name and surprisingly affordable price. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its exceptional performance and reliability. I will continue to monitor its performance and will provide updates if anything changes, but as of now, I am thoroughly satisfied with the Avolusion PRO external hard drive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for fast and efficient storage solutions!

Don’t buy this…. Doesn’t work / Garbage
I just received this, and as soon as I plugged in the power supply, it just beeps constantly as if the drive is frozen or bad. Plugging in the USB doesn’t even get recognized by my computer. Even if it magically started working, I would be very concerned that after a short while all the data on the drive becomes un-recoverable. My two cents. This just arrived and is going right back into the box for a return. Waste of time and money.

A good deal, but incredibly loud
I have been building a plex servers and have been digitizing my blu rays and DVDs over the past few months and have run out of space. I was going to have to stop my project and lose momentum. At the time my budget did not allow for a Seagate or Western Digital so I thought give this a try, and I can upgrade down the road.The Good:It has accurate capacity.It is pretty fast, especially with the USB C cord I purchased seperately.The Bad:It is loud, my wife thought it was a coffee brewer hidden in the office when it was updating the files for the server.

Surprisingly Good
I have been thoroughly impressed by this budget external hard drive, but before I get into my review, allow me to address something mentioned in another review…The comment was made that this hard drive has much less storage space than what is advertised. That is actually incorrect. Hard drives are measured using decimal, or Base 10, capacity. This is the standard ratio of 1,000,000 bytes per megabyte, 1,000,000,000 bytes per gigabyte, and 1,000,000,000,000 bytes per terabyte. If you look at the capacity of this drive in Windows Explorer, it will show you that the drive actually contains more than 14,000,500,000,000 bytes, or OVER 14 terabytes. Unfortunately, Windows still uses the binary, or Base 2, numbering system. The binary system requires 1,048,576 bytes per megabyte, 1,073,741,824 per gigabyte, and 1,099,511,627,776 bytes per terabyte. If you take the 14,000,000,000,000+ bytes on this drive and divide it by the 1,099,511,627,776 bytes the binary system says are required for a terabyte, you get the 12.73 terabytes capacity that Windows shows. If this drive were used on a system with a modern Mac OS, it would correctly show 14 terabytes as the capacity, but Microsoft has yet to adopt the Decimal Base 10 numbering systems in Windows. The higher the capacity of the drive, the bigger the disparity will be between what is reported by the hard drive manufacturer and by Windows. I have included a screen capture from Windows that shows both the 14,000,000,000,000+ byte and the 12.73 terabyte capacity.Now, back to my actual review. I have been using this drive for over six months now. It has become the primary drive for my media center, so I have almost 11 terabytes of data stored on it. The drive is accessed on an almost daily basis and has never once failed me. It operates much quieter than other HDDs I have used while maintaining excellent transfer speeds for an HDD. It is perfect for the storage of large data files, but I would not want to try to install games on it, as an SSD provides much better performance for gaming and/or rapid data transfer. I am impressed enough with the performance of this drive that I am about to purchase my second one, which is what prompted me to write my review of the product. I would definitely recommend this drive to others.

Great backup drive
I use it for backups. It has an on/off switch on the back. After using it, I tell the computer to disconnect it then I turn off the drive. This way it’s not spinning all the time and I don’t need to plug it in and out of the usb slot. When I turn the switch on the drive the computer automatically recognizes it. So far it is fast and dependable and a great value.
