Both Avolusion hard drive failed. Avoid at all cost.
If you are lucky, the hard drive will operate correctly for the first month. My first one lasted only a week before I needed to return it to Amazon. They sent me a replacement hard drive that worked for almost a month. After that, I was required to unplug and plug the hard drive before I could have access to my files. Therefore, I was forced to buy a hard drive enclosure so I would be able to move my files from this hard drive to a Western Digital drive. If the Avolusion hard drive will not turn on, you must purchase a hard drive enclosure and move the hard drive from the Avolusion into the new enclosure. I learned the hard way to always research computer hardware before your purchase.

Works perfectly fine
I had Seagate 16TB external hard drive. I used that as a backup. Seagate drive gave me errors and file system corruption often. It showed 16TB full. I purchased Avolusion to transfer data from old drive to this one. It worked flawlessly. And after data transfer I have 750GB available space because this drive uses NTFS while Seagate was using exFAT. exFat wastes 125kb for each small file that may be just very small like 1kb file. Very satisfied with this drive.

Stopped working almost instantly
when I took it out of the box there was a knocking noise inside of the hard drive, as if something was loose.I uploaded some files and it instantly stopped working. I could never get it to mount to any computer after that.

Very Loud HDD
I thought this was a great deal for $100, and gave it a chance even when the reviews were spotty. The first drive i received was very loud and sounded like the needle was constantly scratching (hear video). This would happen constantly when there were reads and writes. I got a replacement through amazon and the second unit was quieter, but the read/write speeds were slower.All in all, i was very disappointed with the quality of the drives in these enclosures but in hindsight, $100 for 12TB is too good to be true. Please be cautious and mindful when considering this hdd! All the reviews criticizing it are valid.

absolute garbage…..
took it out of the box and there was raddling inside of the unit…..I though “may be it’s some strange design”……stopped working in a middle of first files transfer….
