Great reliable high capacity back up storage
This has been a terrific backup device. I am a YouTuber and needed a way to keep my video files backed up. The only issue is it is not nearly as fast as an internal SATA SSD as in my case it is running through a regular USB A port because my computer does not have a faster USB C port. The capacity is great and I have had no problems with it.

8tb that fit in your pocket
I’m normally a Samsung t7 or t9 fan, but I thought I would give this hard drive a spin (pun intended) and I was pleasantly surprised. While working on location with this hard drive inside a pickup truck exposed to dust, humidity, snow, and rain this hard drive delivered. Excellent design! Not only did it work well but I was pleasantly surprised by its write speed and its storage capacity! For the price it is definitely worth it.

    Big memory, small size.
Gamechanger. I use this to transfer large media files from one computer to another in my local collab. It is so much more convienent than even large USB flash drives, and is fast enough that I can work quick turnarounds on the drive itself. Smaller than a USB HDD, and far lighter, it’s a great option at the sale price.

Very fast for Mac Time Machine backups
Bought this to get an SSD with 8TB to use with Mac Time Machine backups. The main choices were a new Sandisk 8TB Extreme Portable or this. The transfer speed specs for the Sandisk were better than this Samsung, but the Sandisk was also significantly more expensive. I only just got this drive so I don’t know how well it will hold up, but it backed up more than 2TB overnight. With older SSDs from both Samsung or Sandisk, this initial backup took all day.

Update: Crashed yesterday and required formatting / Excellent speeds and memory stick like size
Update: It unfortunately crashed yesterday all of a sudden and required formatting. I could access it, therefore had to format. Lost all of my data BUT was fortunate enough that I had a second 8TB Samsung Evo. Took me all night to copy all files again from one SSD into another. Be careful and try to keep 3 copies of your files on different devices for such occasions. Taking my words back regarding that SSD being awesome. Appears to be not reliable at all.—————I was not sure whether to buy it or not since I saw a lot of negative feedbacks here. I am happy that I decided to go with it and purchased it. I have attached a 13 sec. video without any blurring where you can see openly that I reached an average of 250-260 MB/S speed when I was writing big video files onto my T5 EVO, 8 TB. Take into account that I have been copying from T7 Shield, 4 TB. connected directly to Type-C input on my laptop to T5 EVO, 8 TB connected to docking station through Type-A, USB 3.0. Nevertheless, I have got the mentioned speed of writing. For the small files, the speeds of writing get slower and be sometimes around 15-20 MB/S, but it happens with all drives of such type. For me, it is NOT a decisive factor since I use T7 Shield SSDs (I have 4 of them, 4 TB. each) and T5 EVO, 8 TB. to backup my files and do not constantly erase and write new files. Also, plays smoothly on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone. Highly recommend this product since it is small and can easily accommodate into anybody’s pocket and it is so convenient to carry it with yourself at any times.

    as advertised
I bought two of these to back up my HDD servers. took almost a week for each 8TB server and the data transfer rates did slow down after ~70% full.

    Typical Samsung
Typical Samsung SSD – awesome product. Only about 3 inches long and a bit more than an inch wide make is pretty compact as well.

It is not the fastest backup device, but it is the most stable I have ever encountered. Speed is decent at about 200–300 Mbps.As expected, backing up files on a computer is a walk in the park. What surprised me was backing up my Samsung S23 cell phone. I selected some files totaling 31.1GB, and it took about 20 minutes to finish the job. Upon completion, I deleted 3 files and tested its restore capability. It was successfully restored without a hitch.I recommend this backup device without reservations. It is portable, versatile and user-friendly.

Feels good in the hands, very good transfer speeds on both Windows & Android. Samsung’s security provides password protection on both platforms which works well (software required).
