Drilled through concrete like a hot knife through butter….
Uder this to drill through 3 inch concrete stones with ease. Worked perfectly for mounting a privacy wall.

Zero to 100mph but nothing in between
Worst drill I have ever used.1. There is no control of the speed. It is either nothing or 100%.2. Motor started smoking after running the drill while mixing some grout.3. A little bit awkward to handle, but you can get past that.4. Looks nice, but not the quality of Dewalt that I am used to.

    Good mid-price drill
We have two drills already, one a woefully under powered battery operated Ryobi and an old Craftsman that only drills in one direction. Needless to say we needed another drill, but I didn’t want to skimp on power for household projects this time.We used this drill outside to drill 1/5 diameter holes in an old, but sturdy stump about 4 feet in diameter in the back yard. The Craftsman drill didn’t even make a dent in the surface, but this one made short work on drilling about 50 holes in about 5 minutes. I think a battery powered drill would have done the job, but for me, the extra weight is important (husband would have no problem). The drill did smell like it was burning oil at first, but I think that might have just been a matter of getting the motor going for a while to warm it up. It also stayed hot for about 15 minutes after we were finished drilling, but I haven’t noticed any problems with it starting back up since. The only think I’m unsure of is how to attach the chuck key to the included holder. I didn’t see anything specific in the directions on a quick glance, but this seems like it should be a lot easier to figure out. I consider myself pretty handy around power tools, so something so simple irks me a bit. Other than that I am happy.

    Love it!
This hammer drill is the way to go for anytime you need to drill into concrete or brick. I had this exact same drill for the last 15 years and it finally burnt up but I worked it pretty hard during that time. I used my Dewalt battery hammer drill afterwards and nearly burnt that up when drilling a hole into concrete. And it never went very deep. So I bought this corded Dewalt hammer drill again and it’s amazing how much of a difference it is. It drilled through that same hole like butter. Definitely a good drill.

First rate tool! Made in the USA, too!
I bought this because I had a flooring project at my house in which I had to drill plywood and concrete to place a subfloor over concrete. I had another hammer drill I was using, but it was 25 years old. It was working fine, but I just wanted to have a backup in case I had a problem. I was using three drills (one to drill the plywood & concrete, one to countersink the holes, and one to screw in the concrete screws). As luck would have it, the old drill quit working. I got out the DeWalt drill, and it was SO much better than the old one. Smaller, lighter, and probably more powerful. The hammer action seemed better, too. The built in stop is a nice feature, also. It made a tedious job much faster. I’m really glad I bought this one. I recommend this drill highly! I had no problems with the chuck loosening, or anything, for that matter.A plastic case wouldn’t be bad, but on the other hand, when I’m not using this I will store it in my tool chest. If it had a case, it probably wouldn’t fit where I’m going to store it.I don’t know how long it will last, but it seems well made. Probably will out live me…

    Best drill under $100
Initially, I bought the Sears Craftsman model 10137 for about $60. It was very slow drilling 1/4″ holes 2″ deep in concrete basement walls. It got bound and I needed to use reverse a couple of times. I did 3 holes when the switch that sets the drill for hammer drilling or regular drilling broke. The switch would pop out of whichever setting I put it in. I returned the drill and bought the DeWalt DW511. I drilled 4 holes at 1/2″ by 2″ deep in the same concrete basement walls. I used a 1/2″ bit from the same bit set that had the 1/4″ bit I used in the Craftsman. This drill went through the concrete much easier than the Craftsman even though I had increaed the size of the hole to 1/2″. Each of the 4 holes took me about 1 minute or so each. That includes stopping a couple of times to vacuum out the dust just to keep the hole clean during the drilling. A couple of times when I hit stone in the concrete the drill vibrated quite a bit but it never got bound and it never wrenched or twisted like some drills do which can injure your wrist. I would recommend this drill for anyone who occasionally needs a hammer drill. I don’t know how it would hold up being used daily by a professional. As so many others have said, I do wish that it came with a case just to help me keep my tools organized.

This drill is so powerful, it drills through solid concrete walls like a hot knife through butter. Honestly, I’m not a tradesperson or a contractor, but I use this for everything around the house and it packs a punch!

For the odd time you need a hammer drill, you always wished you had one. This is a solid drill. Works very well with and has loads of power. If you have a house with lots of brick, you’ll end up using one of these more than you know. And you’ll save time. Just used it again to hang some Christmas lights and mount a mantel to my fireplace.

    Did the job

Bought this as a replacement for a 1/2″ hammer drill that died mixing a bucket of concrete. This one has a more powerful motor that handled the load easily. Very good tool.
