Quality, Professional equipment
I use DeWalt and Ryobi battery powered power tools. I am retired , was only using them on occasion.I had Ryobi for many years, before I started up a company I only used the Ryobi driver and drill. After the company fired up, I was using many different Ryobi tools, putting many hours on them, at this point even my oldest ones are still working well.I was checking out the DeWalt driver at store and I liked it’s feel and size, so I had to find out why DeWalt has been around for a long time.At this point I am very happy with it’s design, the light on the front has served me well on many occasions. I wasn’t sure about the speeds 1 thru 3, but after using them I found them very useful. It has a lot of power, which I definitely love.I use it exclusively at this point and have since purchased a reciprocating saw, and a cut off tool. The brand new cut off tool is another story. Right out of the box it was defective, spindle had probably half inch of play in and out. And, spindle lock did not work at all. I’ve never purchased a Ryobi tool that was defective out of the box, plus they all still operate to this day.I will let you know if there is a problem with this driver

Makes Life Easier
I constantly have home projects that require me to use a variety of bits and drilling. I have a different dewalt drill that took time to change bits all the time. I decided to get this for the compact size and the ease of changing bits. Now I can have two drills to switch between for projects making them get finished faster

Great tool.
I got it as a Christmas gift for my nephew, he tells me how much he loves it and how easy it is to use every time he uses at my house to fix something. One of his favorite tools.

Portable, light, sturdy, powerful
Portable, light, sturdy, powerful. DeWalt delivers. I needed a second driver smaller than the one I already had, and this one did not disappoint.

Debated this one (845 XR) or the Atomic (850) – note: there are even newer ones coming
So, when the VERY short Dewalt Atomic 850 driver came out it got great reviews and really outpowered almost every other driver in the Dewalt ecosystem. I was sold, but then I started to read reviews mentioning reliability issues (from trades people in particular). Indeed, there were a LOT of them reporting they just didn’t hold up. Around this same time, Dewalt released the 840 driver (Sheesh Dewalt….too many drivers!), and it had even more power, but was a little longer and had no speed controls.I assumed Dewalt would release a new XR version to replace their older (but still around) driver and sure enough – this 845 XR came along. Honestly, I’m pretty happy with it overall. Balance, power, control, etc. – all work really well for me. I just used it to install some shower grab bar anchor screws just the other day. No complaints for my uses cases which don’t include driving a lot of big lags. The only downside to this tool and even the 850 was that it did not move the bar in terms of sheer power (important IF that is what you need) – especially as compared to Milwaukee and their monster drivers. If you do need that power, then maybe a Milwau….wait, this just in, Dewalt is releasing TWO MORE drivers this year. One is a hydraulic impact (nice for inside use!) and the other is clearly designed to go after Milwaukee on the power front. At first, I regretted not waiting for the new, more powerful, driver they ar releasing, but honestly, it is bulkier, likely heavier and, again for my use case, I’d rather have the smaller tool with likely more finesse (maybe not Makita level finesse, but still good). It is all about the RIGHT tool for the job (which is also why I have the more compact DCD800 drill driver as my every day drill over the BIG 99* series). Nothing wrong with the BIG BOY tools, but overkill for a lot of jobs.I am, of course, tempted by the new hydraulic driver…can’t wait!

Better than screwdriver
Great helper, 10/10, I have a drill and with impact driver it is super helpful.I got a separate battery from Amazon and drill without it is so much cheaper
