QHD resolution workstation with a bit of wiggle
This review is actually being typed up with these displays and I’ll be providing an objective breakdown of the features.DESIGN & MOBILITYWhile I was skeptical at first, the design does work well, primarily with 15.6″ laptops; see the Lenovo Thinkpad in the photos. The unit is larger overall than the laptop and is cumbersome to carry around on the regular. It’s better suited to be moved occasionally and serve as a temporary workstation replacementPhysics is simply not on this product’s side and there is sway with any adjustment or bumping of the screens. The ability to rotate the screens around makes presenting much simpler, but the single hinge rotation looks to be a weak point of this product’s design. The padded case provided will swallow up the monitors and a couple cables at the top so you can save space in a cramped laptop bag.CONNECTIVITY & COMPATIBILITYEach screen has two USB-C port and one mini-HDMI port, which gives flexibility for connecting to modern and slightly older laptops alike. That said, this will likely saturate your USB-C ports and you’ll need to run seprate USB-C to USB-A power if you’re connecting with HDMI. If your machine only has one USB-C port and no HDMI output, a hub with dual HDMI would my recommendation. Also, the connectors on the screens have little clearance around them, so you’ll need to make sure you’re using cable with standard to thinner cable connectors.Windows and Mac compatibility are on the tin, but I’ve also found that Linux machines are compatible as well. These mobile monitors are driver-less, so that is not surprising.DISPLAY QUALITYThis is where this product really starts to shine bright (no pun). Dual QHD screens flanking my 4K main screen provides a nice extension to the overall desktop real estate. The matte finish is easy on the eyes and there is more than enough brightness, although there is no nits rating. Turning on the DCR mode (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) for each screen makes configuration outside of preferred temperature hands off and well suited to most ambient lighting environments. My model is an LCD display, not IPS, so you’re not getting top tier color fidelity. What it lacks there it makes up for in brightness and am pleased to say these displays are not much affected by poor viewing angles; a very good thing when they are meant to rotate. What you also get is higher refresh rates:I’m able to get the 60hz refresh rate on both screens–one on USB-C and the other on HDMI–and with each screen running from a different display adapter. This may be below expectations for gamers, but provides a wonderful, seamless productivity experience for travelers.FINAL IMPRESSIONReiterating my skepticism, I’ve become comfortable with the screens and can see their utility for the remote worker or just someone lacking in desk space in need of more desktop to place windows. The QHD screens themselves are quality monitors and are well-sized and configurable for their purpose. The only real sore point I’ve noticed using these screens are the single hinge rotation which is less stable than other mobile screens. Some design improvements here will greatly improve the overall design of these nice mobile screens. These are a 4 out of 5 for me and I’m optimistic a design improvement can easily bring them up to a 5.

    Portable productivity enhancer
This screen extender can really take your laptop productivity to another level. I need at least two 27″ screens for work on my home desktop PC, so dual 17″ screens on my laptop felt a bit limited. This extender solves that issue.I had no problems connecting the item. (I had to use an extra HDMI splitter since I don’t have USB-C video, and it worked with no issues for this unit.) I was able to get HD clarity as well. The setup does take some time to get used to, as you have to unfold the screens in the correct order and flip the left one, but it’s easy enough to figure out after you do it the first time. I admit, this is bulkier than I expected, but considering what you get for the price, I can’t really gripe. The pictures make it seem as if this attaches to your laptop screen, but that’s not the case. Instead, the center portion sits behind your laptop. It’s so heavy, it wouldn’t make sense to hang or attach it to your laptop anyway. The pictures seem to make this seem thinner and lighter than it really is. Watch the video to get a more accurate idea of how it works.I find that you basically need to let it stand up straight to be at a comfortable angle for viewing. It’s thick enough that it does so with no problem without the built-in stand. I don’t really care for the stand, because it makes the unit lean too far back for my tastes. I wish that the stand were more adjustable, because I’d rather use it as a security to keep this from tipping over accidentally.Overall, this a great item to have. It’s a little bulky, but it’s an excellent screen size, allowing me to get some real work done when I’m on the road. Those few quirks are just enough for me to give it 4 stars instead of 5. It’s actually a great deal for the price, but you need to be aware that it won’t be the easiest connection or most portable triple-screen setup out there. If you want total peak performance, expect to spend a few hundred bucks more. If you want a bargain and can put up with a few inconveniences, this is a total winner.
