GREAT SCREEN, CAMERA, BATTERY, STORAGE + DURABLE!
I’ve had the Google pixel 3XL for several months now and have really enjoyed it; this may even be my favorite phone thus far (and I’ve had 6 phones over the last 2 years, most being major flagship models). It feels super thin and lightweight, but SUPER durable – my screen is scratch-free (and I don’t use a screen protector!), and this phone has survived not just getting dropped A LOT – after missing for 4 days, it was found outside under bricks after days of storms! I wiped the mud off, plugged it in and it worked perfectly (and still does!). The 6.3 inch screen is big, bright and vibrant, with excellent screen-to-body ratio. I’ve gotten used to the black “notch” that drops down about half an inch at the top because it allows for a great ear speaker and an awesome front camera. Pictures are sharp and portrait mode does an excellent job of putting the face in focus and softening the appearance of imperfections. I’ve also been very impressed with battery life – I can go a full day on a single charge and haven’t noticed any decrease in battery life. I just started using a wireless charger, which works great even with a protective case.I read reviews that complained about no microSD or headphone jack, but there’s plenty of storage space, and the box includes a headphone jack adapter to resolve that issue (although you’re unable to charge the device while using headphones). As always, Amazon shipped my package quickly with next-day delivery and customer service was extremely helpful answering my questions about Amazon warehouse and item specifics. Very satisfied!*Pictures show camera quality – depth, color, sharpness and portrait mode

Pixel 3/3XL ‘OEM unlocking’
This review is to add a little more feedback as to whether or not these phones’ bootloaders can be unlocked in order to flash a ROM. For what it’s worth, this was my recent experience with these two phones/vendors.Pixel 3 128GB Just Black:- On first boot (no SIM, no internet), ‘OEM unlocking’ was grayed out (Fastboot > Device Status: Locked). I noticed the OS was very out of date (circa Android 7). Connected wireless and applied OS update (to Android 12). Rebooted after update and ‘OEM unlocking’ was no longer grayed out and was available to toggle ON allowing bootloader unlocking if desired.Pixel 3 XL 64GB Just Black:- On first boot (no SIM, no internet), ‘OEM unlocking’ was NOT grayed out and was available to toggle ON allowing bootloader unlocking if desired….other than that…Pixel 3:- Packaging/phone/contents appeared to be factory sealed and in new condition.- The phone did not have a SIM.- I did not encounter any FRP and was able to skip all the Google account login prompts without issue.- Vendor CrownProductsPixel 3XL:- Packaging/phone/contents appeared to be factory sealed and in new condition.- The phone had a T-Mobile SIM (removed prior to first boot).- I did not encounter any FRP and was able to skip all the Google account login prompts without issue.- Vendor CrownProductsHope that’s helpful to someone. 🙂

Steps to set up the new Pixel in China
Due to the Great Fire Wall in China, setting up a new Google phone is not that simple as in other countries. Here are the steps I went through: 1) Turn on the phone without inserting a Sim card. 2) Skip those steps that involve connection to the Google server. 3) When the phone completes the start process, connect it to a laptop with a USB cable, and send a VPN or similar app from the laptop to the phone. I have connected the Pixel with another phone or the laptop, using bluetooth, but failed in transferring the VPN app by bluetooth. 4) Connect the Pixel to wifi, run the VPN, the Pixel can now connect to Google server. 5) Continue with other steps like inserting a Sim card, go to Google account and Google Play Store, make necessary downloads and updates, etc.An annoying issue: Even with the VPN running successfully, and hence so do the apps on the Pixel, the wifi sign keeps showing “no internet”. I don’t know how to figure out this issue. The Pixel 3XL comes with Android 9. The 10 is available, and my phone is still downloading the 10 since I set up the phone 2 days ago.12/26/2019 Update: My phone updated to Android 10 yesterday. A surprise comes out: The wifi sign returns to normal. The tiny cross sign and the wording “wifi connected but no internet” disappeared.

This is a replacement phone for a 3xl I had been using, after getting a cracked screen in my previous phones screen.1) Phone arrived ahead of schedule2) It was in perfect condition. You could tell it is in new condition by the packaging and the phone was in it’s original condition.3) I did have an issue when it first started up where it would come up with a “pixel launcher is not working”. I was able to resolve that problem and the phone has been working great, since.

Brand new, comes with USB C headphones, charger.Battery was drained when received, but it charged just fine and seems to hold a charge really well over the last 2 days. Was able to upgrade it to Android 12, great price and snappy for a 250$ phone.Transferring data over from a Samsung S9 was quite painless.
